Local lore has it that Albert Petty, an early Mormon settler, took his wife to the spot he had chosen for their house beside a large spring and asked her to name their new home. She called it Springdale. In 1864 Springdale, was officially registered with the Postmaster General and began its journey to become the home of Zion National Park.

Our piece of history

Albert Petty’s name is etched into the story of this valley—one of the first settlers to call this place home. The rest of our family tale? That’s where fact meets folklore.
We’ve gathered old photos, documents, and dusty records to stitch together a story of how the Petty Ranch Inn might have grown over generations.
Some of it’s true. Some of it’s legend. All of it is meant to make you feel at home.

What’s real is this: people have been stopping here for generations. Now it’s your turn to write your way into this story.
